The GCT, in line with our declared aims to engage and promote Glentoran Football Club within the community of East Belfast, and also delivering on our promise to return the proceeds from the recent GCT 125th Anniversary Ormeau Park Festival to Charitable and Worthy Causes, are delighted to announce that on Monday 10th December 2007, and in association with "Engage with Age", we brought 200 of East Belfast's Senior Citizens together at the Park Avenue Hotel Belfast for a free Christmas Lunch!
The event cost the GCT in the region of £4,000 to deliver, money raised through the generosity and sponsorship of Glentoran supporters and businesses who helped celebrate our tremendously successful birthday event of 7th October - a small price to pay, and a Christmas thank you to some of those who have supported and helped Glentoran Football Club prosper throughout the last 125 years!
We couldn't invite everyone of course, but with the kind assistance of Laurence Wright of "Engage with Age" and Alan McIlhagger of "Age Concern", we endeavoured to compile as broad and representative a cross-section of East Belfast's elderly population as we possibly could.
A list of all those who accepted invitations and attended the lunch is detailed below.
A special thanks to Anne Greenan & Beryl Carson of Belfast East Seniors Forum, and GCT member Brian Dawson for all their assistance in giving up of their time to help make the event such a resounding success.
Merry Christmas from all here at the GCT, and we hope everyone had a wonderful day :-) |
