GCT Commit to Glentoran Academy Payout!

Win an original Oil Painting, or buy a PRINT for just a tenner!!
Glentoran Community Trust are delighted to announce our latest, and what we believe to be unique initiative, this time in association with the Glentoran Academy. The GCT have undertaken to foot the bill for ONE member from each of the 8 Academy teams, Under 10’s to Under 17’s, paying his membership dues for the full 2010/11 football season. The lucky winners being chosen by their fellow team members, the “Players’ Player Of The Year” for EACH of the 8 teams.
Not only should this come as some very welcome financial relief for 8 Glentoran families next season, but it should also serve as an extra incentive for each of the teams for the remainder of THIS season. The players of each team will now be competing for a financial windfall at the end of it, and there’s also the added benefit of encouraging the best 8 players at the Academy to remain at Glentoran FC for the 2010/11 season.
The subsequent financial commitment to the GCT will be in excess of £1,200, and to that end we are asking for the support of fellow Glentoran fans in the run up to Christmas.
The Trust has recently commissioned an oil painting depicting one of the proudest nights in the history of Glentoran Football Club, and the penalty scored by John Colrain in the famous 1-1 Oval draw with Portuguese giants Benfica in the 1967 European Cup. The painting, entitled “Once upon a time in the East”, is local artist Ron Ritchie’s impression of the original black and white photograph taken at the time, but re-sized to around 10 by 15 inches, in wonderful colour, and beautifully presented and framed. We have only one original Oil, and will be balloting it to Glentoran supporters from this Saturday 21st November at the Oval, and at all home games until Boxing Day 2009, when we will draw ONE winner at half time during the Linfield game.
UPDATE – Due to the number of postponed games in December and January we have had to defer the ballot draw until Tuesday 9th February, at half-time during the Glens Premiership clash with Lisburn Distillery. Many thanks for your continued patience and understanding.
The Ballots are priced £2, with the proceeds of the sale going towards the 8 prizes for the Academy players, with any surplus going towards future GCT projects.
The Ballots will be numbered, so we are also making them available to purchase online safely and securely via Paypal. Simply click the ‘Buy Now’ button below, and enter the number of ballots you would like on the following page. You will receive a confirmation email of your purchase from Paypal, and an email from ourselves telling you which Ballot numbers you will have entered into the draw on Boxing Day! And better still – should the eventual winner reside overseas, we will undertake to have the painting delivered free of charge!
We have only one Painting of course, but for those of you unlucky in the draw we have also commissioned a limited edition of 100 PRINTS of the painting. Priced at just £10.00 each they are currently available for purchase from the Glentoran Superstore, by approaching a GCT Board member directly, or by emailing .
